I could not agree more with Mr. Wilson. I am a voting Republican and a conservative thinker. I voted for Mr. Bush in both elections and support many of his initiatives. However, the President is wrong on this issue. Mr. McCain put it right on the point when he says it's not about who our enemies are, it's about who we are. We take a step on the road in the direction of becoming as our enemies if we allow torture of prisoners. Let us instead take the high road.

The fact that we are even in this debate at all is just shameful. How any American raised on rule of law could condone torture -- even for obtaining useful information, is sinful. The fact that such positions come out of the highest offices in the U.S. government is criminal.
This is a matter of life and death to CIA operatives, military personnel and foreign service officers all serving overseas -- that their government not sanction torture.
It is shameful, sinful and criminal -- the land of the free and the home of the brave. Let's stop hiding under our beds and thinking we can stop terrorism by using the rack. Let the President veto an anti-torture bill, supported by over 90 percent of Americans. We can always put it into the Constitution.

Mr. Cheney, Thank you. I'm shamed. I doubt that your supporters are, but I'm shamed by your position and by its effect on the people of the United States.
