If you could be sure that it would only be used to look for terrorists, it would be one thing. However, the track record of various administrations makes that a doubtful proposition. One of my friends found that her parents were on the enemies list many years ago, and they never could figure out why. I used to really look down on J. Edgar Hoover collecting dirt on politicians, but learned recently that at least part of the reason was to prevent them from using the FBI for political purposes. Sorry, Dubya - ring a no-sale on this one.

From personal experience, ChoicePoint data base is full of inaccuracies! And the nefarious background of its founder should be of concern. Probably the USG doesn't care; it doesn't care about much of anything!

The government that brought you floating bodies in the streets of New Orleans was the local government of said city. And as for the local citizen on the street worrying about the government or a corporation having access to their public information, you should be more worried if they didn't. That warm feeling you have is the blanket of protection provided to you by the government and the DoD. And by the way, Anonymous, you are welcome.
