All this will result in is another layer of bureaucracy. You simply cannot micromanage tens of thousands of employees from Washington. There is waste and abuse in virtually every area of the government. If you want to get rid of it, try hiring competent managers and then give them the ability to fire the deadwood!

Maybe Buyer would do well to look at the fraud, waste and theft in other agencies before he starts to criticize the VA. This guy is no friend of the veterans. Any politician who would suggest that a veteran should be classified as a "veteran" only if he or she served in combat, is somebody the vets had better watch. This is not to say the VA accountability may not need some tweaking, but I would suggest he take a look at Halliburton and their political cronies, if he is really concerned about accountability of tax dollars.
