This is a well written in-depth article. The final quote by OBC chief writer Col. Jim McDonough really hit the mark. "Arrogance" is the defining feature of the current administration. Ignoring the advice of the OBC will turn out to be yet another costly blunder.

When I hear the argument for moving U.S. forces from oversea bases is based partly on the benefits for the soldiers I immediately wonder if they asked the soldiers. Many in the U.S. military actually enjoy living in U.S. military bases overseas and would rather deploy from there rather than deploy from places like Fort Bliss or Fort Hood, Texas. There are many legitimate reasons we need to reduce U.S. force presence overseas, particularly in Asia, but don't claim you are doing it for our benefit.

It's just incredible that this administration is still trying to secure forward area bases. The old adage that we should fight over there to keep them from coming here just won't wash. It's bull. Look at the priorities of this government. When an administration will not even hire indigenous Americans to rebuild the Big Easy, what does that tell you? It tells me that my country only cares about people with money. Greed is the rule of the day. I applaud the senators who are trying to fix this scam on the American people. Dissolve the commission, close those overseas bases as soon as possible. Quit giving billions of our tax dollars to foreign governments. Our people first. Foreign governments last. And while we're at it, let's throw out the illegal aliens too. It's time to take care of our own. Charity begins at home.
