Return to Article: Ex-CIA officer heads to court for second time over proposed book

Another great article GovExec! Why do loyal, hardworking, career officers of the CIA get jerked around when they retire and try to write a factual (as much as secrecy, and protection of the company will safely allow) book to let the rest of us know what really went on. Is Gary Berntsen's book being held up because at Tora Bora the CIA's critiques were ignored, and T. Franks "just stepped on Richard"; and let bin Laden escape from Tora Bora, with most of Al Queda? I think it (Tora Bora) was a major set-back.
If Franks was so darned good, why did he retire? A "real warrior" (Ike, Curt LeMay) would have stayed on board until we had a strong democracy in Afghanistan and Iraq. Why didn't Tommy? Was he secretly "fired" for screwing up Tora Bora? Not listening to the CIA? Folks take it from me, when you are dealing with a real member of the company, and he/she tells you something; you can take it to the bank! Those old career heads, that no one knows about, know what they are doing; and we benefit from it every day.
It's about time these political appointees stayed out of the way and let the CIA do its job.

I find it very interesting that the Bush administration claims to be in complete agreement with the Constitution. But when it allows someone like Mr. Bernstein to comply with the laws and the constitution, the Bush administration does not want to comply.
Could it be there is something in the book that tells the truth about something the administration has already told in a much different way?
It is becoming very clear to this poster that things are not always as they are told to the American people by the Bush spin machine.
