How can anyone believe that this country (or the world) is safer with these incompetent, unqualified sycophants in charge? All presidents have probably appointed friends in positions they weren't qualified for but Bush has reached new heights in croynism. These people are in charge of our money, our military and our national security and the only qualification they need is to either be a friend of Bush's or a political contributor to the GOP. I pray America wakes up before its too late to save this country.

Good story. Maybe the new motto for Bush should be "Leave no Crony Behind."

An amusing article
"We think this is a creative use of the criminal code to try to secure Mr. Safavian's cooperation in other matters," Van Gelder said."
This is done all the time when you threaten underlings to get to the Mob Boss. And why would the government even need to get Mr. Safavian to cut a deal and sing like a bird if he wasn't neck deep in misconduct himself.
There is no ethical excuse that the Chief Procurement officer for the entire US government could give that would forgive these types of breaches. And it shines a really poor light on the administration's vetting process because they knew there was trouble when he jumped from GSA to OMB and they didn't care-- Loyalty is more important that knowledge, skills, ability, and most damning of all- ethical conduct.
Shameful!!!!

You mean this is just the tip of the iceberg?!!! I hope GovExec stays on top of all issues regarding the Safavian investigation.
