To the poster who suggest calling our "managers" back into active service, who served? Bush hid out in Texas and was AWOL from Alabama and Cheney had "other priorities." They're nothing more than first class cowards!

To the Denver poster - It's tough - You can say things are "easy for you to say because you have a job" well, you do, too! You will continue to have a job. Little comfort, I know. Be grateful that you are not under NSPS. NSPS will strip you of your rights under a move like this. You will no longer enjoy the benefits of "Transfer of Function" because DOD has decided there will no longer be "Transfers of Function". It will be called, Movement of Work. Transfer of function means you get to move with your work. Movement of Work is just that. DOD moves the work but not the people.

I am one of those who is very unhappy with the "Decision Makers." But, that aside, I have say that in support of application systems that I am responsible for within a Headquarters, I have had good support from DFAS throughout the years and have worked with some very fine hard working folks. While there may be some slack on the part of some, I hate to see those dedicated and hard working civil servants put down because I know there many at DFAS Indy.

To Union President in Columbus.
I know the quality of work that comes out of those two centers, and it's really bad. I also saw the presentation that Cleveland made for the BRAC committee and they were very critical of Denver and Indy. It's easy for you to say, you still have a job. I still say, you military better watch your pay!

The last poster reminds me of a T-shirt I saw at EB in Groton when there was discussion over shutting down either Groton or Newport News shipyards as submarine overhaul facilities:
"We like to party, and we like to booze, But we build 'em better than Newport News"
I saw a quality product from both shipyards. I also was served by the professionals at DFAS Cleveland for my entire active duty career, and (I think) by these same folks since I retired in 96 - all without any major problems.
Poster, I'm sorry for the pain you are feeling at the prospect of change, and I hope all works out for you. But please don't denigrate others professionalism or ability through bitterly lashing out. The individuals at Cleveland didn't create the recommendation.

This man has caused so many bad things in the Defence Department it will take decades to right the wrongs he has put on the good people in the department.

"Controversial, because his brusque style and sharp elbows have alienated many senior military leaders as well as U.S. allies. Rumsfeld's trademark determination to constantly push the envelope " He and the department lie! That is his brusque style and trademark! The appointment of Pace means you should look out for Pace. Marines are a division of the Navy so Rummy picked the lowest of the overall service members and now has the mindless loyalty of the marines.

I understand your bitterness over the Base Realignment and Closure Spoils System. I do feel sorry for you. I must come to the defense of the competent and able employees at the DFAS's in Indy and Cleveland. Your work will move there - We hope you move with it. There is life after BRAC - I should know - I was BRAC'd in 1993 - Had to uproot my daughter and leave my support network and everything I knew as normal in the city I was born and raised in. It's not easy - Don't blame the employees of Indy and or Cleveland, and certainly do not criticize their abilities. We are all DOD employees - Some of us have gone through this - Take the high road.......

Hmm, these are DoD leaders. They sound like the New York Yankees, overpaid and under utilized. Time to fire the manager and clean house. Of course, we could always look into calling back them into active service, couldn't we?

So, these are the class of clowns that decided to close DFAS Denver. Just wait, all you military.....your pay is going to get so screwed up by Indy and Cleveland DFAS centers and you will never, ever get it straightened out let alone find someone who can or ever will give you an answer. I can't wait until that day happens. You just cut off your nose to spite your face.
