Return to Article: Turf wars likely to erupt over DHS reorganization proposal

America:
If you're not frightened to death yet, you sure as heck should be now.
For after the decimation of one of the most successful law enforcement agencies in history - the U.S. Customs Service,
For after the abortion that Congress created in this debacle called ICE,
For after Chertoff's feeble attempts at "reorganization"...
Now, we get reports of "turf wars" brewing over ANY attempts to rectify what many in academia and the private sector consider to be one of the worst governmental reorganizational failures IN HISTORY.
This is supposed to be the agency responsible for PREVENTING terrorist attacks by proactive investigative work.
Instead, THOUSANDS of competent criminal investigators sit impotent and paralyzed by the executive and legislative branches because of their incompetence and ineptitude.
Congress can't get it right, even some two and a half years later.
And you're placing your trust in the FBI? Who are THEY going to blame after 9/11, Act II? Certainly not DHS and CERTAINLY not ICE; we're almost so irrelevant to the 'War On Terror" that we are almost off the radar.
America...BE AFRAID...BE VERY AFRAID.
Pathetic, shameful and disgraceful.

If you don't know what to do with what you have you start reorganizing it. It doesn't matter what you do as long as it screws up what you have.
This is the new management style with the government. Start reorganizing, it sounds good and no one follows up. Can't beat that deal.
