Hmmm, to the high and mighty FBI Agent. All those years and all that time on a degree for a government job, when little old uneducated immigration agents like myself have a government job too. Book sense has never translated into common sense and you can't learn that in any college. Well you need the big FBI pay to get those student loans out the way. I'll just keep my pay check to myself. As for homeland security, remember your own words. We actually are trying to identify them before they come into our country. Get out of your office and visit a port of entry sometime. See what a real working officer has to go through on a daily basis.

To the clueless FBI agent with the MBA, I don't see how any degree translates into making a great agent. I've met some local detectives with just a high school education and they're were some of the sharpest street agents I have ever met and put together some of the biggest cases I have worked. Then again that's the problem with some agents. They think cases are made from behind a desk and not from the street. You, obviously, would have a hard time working in any environment except from behind a desk because you think you're better than everyone who doesn't have the same educational background as you.

To the clueless FBI agent who said, "Immigration Officers are hired with GEDs":
Tell your mama to apply, then.

I see we are at the level of dueling diplomas. Can we lower the level of debate further? Maybe "mama" comments will be next.

TO THE ICE LA IMMIGRATION OFFICER: Since you are an Immigration Officer, I have as many terrorists arrests as you. ZERO! As far as my education, I have an MBA, which is six more years of education than you have. Immigration Officers are hired with GED's. FBI Agents require a four year degree. If you had a four year degree, you would be in the FBI. So QUIT YOUR CRYING!

To the expert that wrote this mess:
"To the Immigration officer in ICE LA: Foreign nationals that pose a threat to the U.S. is not an immigration matter, it is a matter for the FBI. Your job is to check the validity of immigration documents. If there is a problem with the documents and ICE thinks that there is a terrorist connection, call the FBI. You don't have the legal authority, expertise, resources, or intellectual ability to investigate terrorism, the FBI does. So quit crying."
You don't have a clue or an education. How many terrorists have you arrested?

Sen. Charles Schumer stop wasting our money with your stupid political schemes! The increased security in subways means a larger number of armed guards walking around doing nothing. The Congress only can respond to things that have happened and never consider what is going to happen. Remember something about the horse and the barn door?
There absolutely is no way that Congress or the police can protect the public from all forms of terrorist actions and they should stop wasting our money to look like they are doing something when they are doing nothing effective!
We will never find WMD or anything else, such as Osama, until the US press releases simply state they have been found. We are wasting a tremendous amount in Iraq and now with more wasted security for us. Hey guys-we do not want it! stop wasting our money and increasing the debt on our children and grand children!
Danger is the cost of an open society and freedom. Face it Congress the public is in the front line of this war. It makes no sense to "break" the country financially to achieve security. We are giving up our freedoms to our own Congressmen and President and it has to stop.

More dogs, less guns? Ever hear of the 'dog and pony show'? Since when have heavily armed LEO's stopped ANY explosive devices? Just look at Israel..Sure, El Al has top security, until you de-plane, then you're in a war zone. In my opinion, our biggest problem is color perception. Stop issuing all the phony color-related alerts, ackowledge that we are in a long-term war against the Islamic world, and try to find our common values, if it isn't too late. Unfortunately, we've become fat, sloppy, and so self indulgent that working for common goals is almost impossible. Look what happened to the remains of the almost 3,000 victims of the World Trade Center Islamic Terror Attack. They were trucked over to Staten Island, to be pawed over by federal LEO's (Customs, Immigration)so that the ground could be cleared more quickly for new 'businesses'!Now, the wonderful mayor of New York City wants to encourage a brand new terrorist tower, to show the bad guys that we're not afraid of them! We live in the Divided States of America today. I really hope that we can wake up in time, and realize that this is the Last Crusade..

You've got new badges???!!!!
I guess here in New York we're still "Customs" or "INS" agents, because that's what our badges and credentials say.
Maybe that's not a bad thing.
When family and friends say that I must be really busy investigating terrorism, I'm embarrassed to tell them the truth, which is that we have virtually no role in this fight, other than the crumbs the FBI throws to us.
Too bad nobody in authority will admit that the creation of this agency was a big mistake, which has done nothing to make this country safer.

Every time there is a terror threat, we see where our money is going in the "fight against terrorism"-toward LEOs in combat gear with machine guns standing around for six figure incomes. I am amazed that nearly every law enforcement organization in the country has made out with fresh funds, training and personnel EXCEPT the one agency needed to sort out the real threat- foreign nationals with an anti-American agenda. That's a great Homeland Security strategy, take authority and funds away from immigration enforcement. And, treat former immigration officers like they are the problem, not the policy makers with no clue. Our new badges have arrived after two and half years- yeah! I'm so happy, I could just pop for a car- wash for my gov't vehicle so some local PD can purchase a tank for the homeland defense of his McDonalds and Taco Bell.

Like France and the Maginot line of the 1930s, our leadership (or lack thereof)is preparing us for the last terror attack rather than anticipating and preparing for the next terror attack. But hey, "bring them on."

On the morning rush hour train ride into Washington DC from Northern Virginia, I encountered a policeman at the Virinia station, saw another at a station en route, and finally another at the DC end. This was on July 8. The day before--the day of the London bombings--I didn't see any. Evidently three or four hours (the time between the London explosions and our morning rush) is not enough time to scramble the forces.

I think we should ask the contractors. They obviously have all the answers.

It's ironic that DHS issues security warnings about potential terrorist attacks, when DHS actually has very little to do with fighting terrorism, other than serving as a conduit for federal funding for state and local authorities and first responders. The FBI and CIA dominate terrorism investigations, while ICE and DHS remain outsiders. In fact, many feel ICE and DHS were created solely to take the blame when, not if, the next terrorist attacks strike the U.S., thereby absolving the FBI and CIA of any blame. Remember how the 9/11 Commission pointed out the numerous errors and omissions by the FBI and CIA prior to the 9/11 attacks? Now there is someone else to blame, namely DHS, even though DHS is a paper tiger, with virtually no responsiblity to investigate terrorism. What a disgrace!
