I can see it now. Special airtight containers for your lighter sold by Zippo for only $5.95! Act now, supply is limited.

Intelligence Analyst,
How much of the information you pass to the President is based on movies? Maybe that is why we are at war over weapons that do not exist - they say it in the movies! -

Granted Zippo has to earn a living, but in over 500,000 air miles I have NEVER seen anyone light up a cigarette with a Zippo lighter. They don't sell them on airplanes either. In addition, if Zippo believes "They are a collector's item. They're kind of the Harley-Davidson of lighters," - why do the lighters someone might buy between flights need to be FILLED? Has Zippo not seen the WWII movie where a "bomb" was made with a lit match placed in a book of matches, sideways, and pitched onto a moving train. Guess what! The train blew up about a mile or two down the tracks. Maybe we should have the TSA watch WWII movies so they can determine what is possible. And, while we are at it, maybe we can get Condolezza Rice to attend so she can learn how Japanese and Germans used SUICIDE PLANES to bomb (she sez she didn't know they could do that!) ships and installations.

You've got to be kidding me. Now will Zippo and the smokers carry extra insurance when an aircraft blows up? If TSA buys this one, then security isn't any better than it was before September 11, 2001.

Listening to irate passengers, some of them have a point (matches are allowed on a flight but not lighters), and the pictures of trash cans filled with Zippo lighters, made me think: at least for now, why doesn't the TSA move the trash cans full of Zippos to the information desk where arriving passengers can help themselves to a lighter leaving the airport, after all, smokers share cigarettes don't they? I wonder what kind of $500 hammer the Fed uses to dispose of the flammable lighters? Reminds me of the recent story of the TSA taking a Federal Agent's fingernail clippers but letting him carry his nine millimeter onto the flight. Hey! You can shoot someone if they get out of line, but you can't groom them!
