Folks, I agree with much of what you have to say but with respect to the MSPB, that agency was and is pro-government. It admits to ruling in favor of the agency 95% of the time - that means 95 complainants out of 100 are wrong in their complaint. Common sense should tell that isn't true. With respect to unions, the unions have created a lot of their own mess by the attitude of its members. Recently, while waiting to check into a VA clinic, the person checking me in asked a young lady, in a respectful manner to retrieve a patient's folder which had fallen on the floor. She responded, "I am not picking that folder up from the floor" and she walked away. The same can be said of union members all through the government and yes I was a former union person. You are correct in your belief that in the next few years, we will never know the government structure as it used to be - good? we will see.

Dear Queen,
Nobody will beam Scotty up because he is doing exactly what he is supposed to be doing. He will probably win an award from the White House for destroying OSC.
Take a look at the big picture-- The Civil Rights Commission, broken and irrelevant. The Federal Labor Relations Authority- still no General Counsel or Deputy in place. The Merit Systems Protection Board- absolutely starved for resources. The EEOC-- also broken and about to be reorganized into irrelevancy. The NLRB-- who?? The Office of Special Counsel-- this joke is just the tip of the iceberg.
And my all time favorite Office of Personnel Management is now the lapdog of OMB-- woof, woof.
There are precious little civil service and workplace protections left and over the next few years what is left will soon be taken away as well.
The Unions have been bashed and trashed to the point where the AFL-CIO is about to rip itself apart.
And we Americans are oblivious to all of it as we go about our personnal lives and there are forces at work to take away as much personal liberty as possible.
The problems for federal whistleblowers is just the tip. The problems for all of us federal workers is just the tip. I once read that the life expedency of a Republic is less than 300 years. Oh well-- I hope the Empire that usually follows is benevolent during at least my lifetime-- this experiment was really good while it lasted.

Being a constituent of Sen. George Voinovich, I suspect that the confrontation with Mr. Bloch had little to do with standing up to a liar. The Senator is no hero. He is just one lawyer feeding off of another to help advance his career. For this one, "good" deed, he has dozens of other serious problems that he has ignored. They just weren't visible enough.
The American public is having this problem with most of it's Congressional representatives. It's no long a matter of duty and honor. It's the "What's in it for me?" mentality. Voinovich only gives when he gets.

Kudos to Scott for standing up for himself and his agency's decisions, especially in front of politicians who should be looking after our military fighting a war in Iraq. It is too bad that a few civilians have their feelings hurt by being required to move in order to keep their jobs. Now think of all the disabled vets who federal agencies screwed out of a job and got away with it. If these civilians want to take their bat and go home in a manner of speaking, then let them have at it. I am ashamed that a group of politicians have nothing more to do than worry about 12 civilians who had to relocate. After all, did they expect top grow roots in the same job (many of them do) until their fat retirement checks start rolling in.

Scott Bloch is a disaster. He did a nice job of lying yesterday, however. Kudos to Sen. George Voinovich for standing up to this low-life.

It is very fascinating that Mr. Bloch has reduced cases. My case has been in the hands of OSC for 17 months and they have not started the investigation.

So Mr. Bloch never intended to hurt anyone and is very concerned about the people who quit? He has the gall to say this, when he gave them the absolute minimum notice for this order to move and admits he knew it would be a hardship for them. It sounds like a blatant lie to me.

It is hard to believe that 12 employees of OSC could receive such expedient attention in warranting hearings, but disabled veterans who served this country would wait for years to have their cases heard by government officials, let alone senate hearings. Many veterans are dying or have died as a result of military service with things like agent orange and other cancer elements, but they got nothing for years and years. What a joke.
