Return to Article: Familiar names show up on Army's closure list

In all the articles I read about hard hit areas and familiar names on the BRAC list, never do I see mention of Red River Army Depot, which is recommended for closure. The BRAC commission leads someone to believe approx 2500 employees would be affected. Well, that just is a clear misrepresentation of the facts. Red River Army Depot is a defense complex which includes contractors, Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant, Defense Logistics Agency, and a tenant activity of McAllister Army Ammunition Plant. Total employed at the complex is nearer to 5,000 people. Decisions need to be made based on clear, accurate information as to econimic impact. Also to the contributions of the complex to the military armed forces.
