The postal service is a ridiculous subsidy for junk mail! Congress should privatize the postal service with a GSE similar to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The postal service should become a privately owned and operated service that is forced to compete with UPS, Airborne, FedEx and others. The success of these private carriers has demonstrated that we do not need the postal service as it exists today. What are you waiting for Congress?

All of this hype about revamping the Postal System is smoke and mirrors. There is NO true intent to change anything. Everytime the rates go up the profits go up, so why change? The waste within the Postal System is astounding and only keeps getting worse. No private business would ever be able to compete or survive the first year if they managed the way the Postal System does. If they really wanted to decrease costs the answers are soooo easy. Quite blowing smoke.

The post office is out of control and has been for at least 15 years. There is nothing we (the taxpayer and stamp buyers) can do. We are at the mercy of the Congress and we all know they are worthless to make the correct decision.
Stand in line some more. It really makes you mad.

Why can't the postal system go thru the same thing we in Dept of Defense are going thru with Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC)?Close some of the unnecessary branches would save a bundle of money without increasing costs to us!!
