I remember my dad was ticked-off because the water fountains at the Marine Base tennis courts were shut-off on a particularly hot day in the winter. Why were they shut-off? Because in DC the pipes would freeze. Garcia's world in DC is run by the same thoughtless pattern. Square peg even if it is a round hole.

Two (2) + years and STILL no new badges or credentials here at ICE! Garcia couldn't even procure new creds/badges for the employees of the agency he lead, let alone define its mission and/or straighten out its finances. His reward for such "stellar" leadership? US Attorny for the SDNY.
Good luck Mr Chertoff, you are going to need it.

Mr. Garcia is the best choice for U.S. Attorney, NY. Please confirm him as soon as possible. We need a man like Garcia in N.Y. to stop terrorism dead in its tracks. If there is a way to bypass or shorten the confirmation process please move forward on it. Thank you Mr. President you have made a wise decision. You will not regret it. ICE thanks you...the nation thanks you..the world thanks you...and most importantly, the FBI thanks you. God bless Mr. Garcia.
P.S. You may want to consider sending his right hand man, Mr. Clark with him. They make a great dynamic duo.

I hope the new Secretary appoints leaders with backbones! Mr Garcia has my vote to become the next Attorney General of Iraq.

I too would welcome a new job for Mr. Garcia, after enduring his "leadership" at ICE for the past 2 years. Let him go back to the Justice Department, and his many friends in the SDNY and the FBI, because he's already done enough damage here! I would also urge Mr. Chertoff to eliminate the useless Undersecretary for Border Transportation & Security position, which served no useful purpose anyway (remember that it's first and only occupant was the useless Asa Hutchinson, who did as much as anyone to foul up DHS, and ICE in particular). Instead, I suggest that he merge ICE and CBP, and eliminate a useless layer of bureaucracy, thereby saving money in the DHS budget, and making it easier to manage. This would also serve to make it easier to fill vacant management positions, as there would be fewer positions to fill!

Speaking as a representative for the employees here at ICE, I can clearly state that Mr. Garcia has our endorsement as the next U.S. Attorney in Manhatten. He can fight terrorism better than any other agency head in the U.S. government. We wish him well in any and all other future ventures he may have.
