Return to Article: GSA moves ahead with reorganization

"Last month, GSA announced a plan to hire an additional 12 to more than 100 contract support employees from the private sector. Procurement experts said this reflects a broader trend across government: The number of skilled acquisition professionals is shrinking, and government is faced with having to hire from the private sector."
This is a little disingenuous. It's not like aliens are snatching federal procurement workers out of their cubicles. The reason their numbers are declining is that people are retiring, and GSA won't replace them. It's not random. The government is only "faced" with having to hire contractors because it wants to hire contractors.
The other great thing is that FTS and FSS are being merged because GSA needs to create the appearance of action, because it has trouble overseeing contractors. So who benefited from that poor oversight? Contractors! And who will benefit from this merger? Contractors, because GSA won't hire feds!
Anyone see a pattern? GSA is a great example of "agency capture," where agencies become extensions of the industries they regulate/do business with. As part of this merger, GSA should rename itself the "Contractor Welfare Agency." Brother Lockheed, can you spare a dime?
