Stephanie Crupi was on of my best friends growing up. We shared a lot of good times. She had one of the biggest hearts. I will never meet anyone like her. She was there to help me through some tough times and I only wish I couldve been there for her. This was a young girl who was trying to do something good with her life and instead had her life ruined by the "mind games" of the people who we call heroes! There are so many things going on that we arent seeing or hearing. When will something be done?!

I would like to explain what happens to these girls. My daughter Stephanie Crupi was 22 years old when she took her own life on Nov. 3, 2004, the day she was supposed to leave for boot camp. This all started because of the mind games and the recruiters putting her to live with a sergeant where he took advantage of her. She was sworn in, in May 2004 and she was supposed to leave on Aug. 2, 2004. That day she was told she was not going because she was a few pounds over weight and her new date was Nov. 3, 2004 - during these few months was when this all occurred. I was supposed to have an interview with the investigating general but received an e-mail today that the brigade had concluded the investigation and no further interviews were needed. They never talked to the family or my attorneys. I am waiting to see what they had to say. But this is what happens to these poor girls. She signed up for eight years and hoping to be an officer RN when done and maybe making it her future. I miss her. She was my only daughter.

After 14 years since testifying before Congress to the Veterans Oversight Committee, how is it that this issue of such magnitude has gotten worse instead of better? The only real cases that were ever publicized were "tailhook" and the Aberdeen Proving Grounds cases. What about the thousands of other cases, more severe, where women were raped and beaten. Why aren't there any talks of these cases, and in particular, what happens to the women who do come forward? Their lives are ruined forever; they are blackballed and their lives are never the same. What are they supposed to do to help themselves when the source of their support is also the perpetrator? Can we expect that the efforts of the women that come forward will ever have a life that can be considered to be normal when they only wanted to serve their country.
