The proposed realignment of overseas bases is one of the most important decisions that our nation can make. I hope that our representatives seek and seriously weigh the advice of persons as mentioned in the Congressional Research Service report. I was especially interested in the opinion of Mr. Korb "that U.S. troops serving overseas as a group act as excellent ambassadors for the values we are trying to promote around the world." As a person who spent 18 years overseas with military missions in six different countries in Europe and Asia, I fully support the views of Mr. Korb. This particular unofficial service he speaks of is priceless in value with no added cost to our nation. The bottom line is that the dollar bottom line isn't always the bottom line.
