I called the phone number that was enclosed with the letter that was sent out regarding Open Season and followed the steps outlined to request booklets on the various plans. Lo and behold, it is December 11, and the booklets never arrived. This is the second time this has happened. Something is wrong with the system.

Another thing...would someone like to explain to this old civil servant why the Postal employees, who seem to start out and continue to make more money than their civil service cousins, get their insurance at half (or more) the cost of ours?

It totally befuddles and mystifies me how small city/county governments and small companies can provide medical insurance which has twice the coverage we have with BC/BS at a much lower cost than the federal government provides. It's unbelievable that the federal government with the number of employees it has, can't negotatiate a better, cheaper plan. It's just unbelievable. I have to believe that if OPM threatened to drop BC/BS, Mail Handlers, etc from the roles, they'd come to their knees in a heartbeat for fear of losing tens of thosands of enrollees. The insurance carriers are surely lining the pockets of OPM negotiators.

Please tell me OPM finally listened to our needs, and has quit letting the Health Insurance carriers lead them around by the nose. Looking at the GOUGING jump Mail Handlers Benefit Plan made again, I must be smoking rope or believe in the tooth fairy.
