Return to Article: Bush administration may rethink space treaty

We already lack credibility and trust with the rest of the world when it comes to nuclear weapons since our president wants everyone else to surrender their weapons while we keep ours. Now we're going to pull out of our promise to keep nuclear weapons out of space? And we still expect other nations to destroy their nukes? It's ludicrous to expect the rest of the world to cooperate when we're so unreasonable. We have no business trying to boost our nuclear capability at the same time we're trying to get others to give up theirs. We ignore their concerns to our own detriment. When you paint the picture of nuclear threats in the world, you have to acknowledge that the US is the one and - to date - only country who's ever used its nuclear arsenal. The rest of the world just doesn't trust us like we do.

1. Why are they not focused on the entire treaty? Does the administration have a habit of not examining the entire situation? That probably explains why he cannot handle Iraq. It is an afterthought - he didn't examine the entire situation.
2. Note the term active before weapons. Inactive is true of almost all nuclear weapons - they are activated when needed. So what does inactive mean?
