Another high ranking departure from the Department of Homeland Security! Let's see, DHS began on March 1, 2003, and in the 1 1/2 years of its existence, it has seen the departure of numerous leaders, including the Deputy Secretary, the Director of Information Analysis & Infrastructure Protection (IAIP), Secretary Ridge's Chief of Staff, the Chief Financial Officer, the ICE Chief of Operations, and now the head of Cybersecurity, among others. DHS has also had great difficulty in attracting talented leaders to fill these positions. Does anyone see a pattern here? This agency has been described as "...a bureaucratic Frankenstein, with clumsily stitched-together limbs and an inadequate, misfiring brain". I can't disagree with that assessment. This agency is still facing bureaucratic infighting, low morale, budget woes, and an overall lack of mission focus and direction. It's time to stop playing politics, and do what is right for this country. Admit to the mistakes made in the hasty creation of this agency, and fix them ASAP!
