Return to Article: Whistleblowers urge workers to disclose classified information

How much of this "concern" is really partisan politics at work? With less than 50 days before the presidential election, it is interesting to see who is behind this effort. As a federal employee for over 24 years, I agree that there are definitely areas of fraud, mismanagement, incompetence, and favoritism that need to be addressed, and whistleblowers should be encouraged to come forward in these areas. However, this group seems to be more interested in harming the present administration, and interfering with our current war efforts, instead of really cleaning up government. As a previous writer said, the American public should consider what message is really being sent here, as well as who is behind it, in order to ascertain their true agenda. This nation is at war with the terrorists who attacked us, and their allies. We need to be united, not divided by partisan politics!

None of this would be occurring if the current administration was open and honest with the American public. But when the VP fights with the head of GAO regarding the list of meeting participants in his energy group and case after case is made for non-disclosure of the most routine information, and citizens sit in brigs for years without due process, and folks have to file a loyalty paper to attend a GOP rally- and the National Park Service Chief of Police is fired for saying she needs more resources. All of this is consistent with a group which is deadly afraid of acting in the sunshine of public scrutiny-- which is a position against our American way of governing and for which these same folks strongly criticized our Russian friends only yesterday.
Does anybody really question why we need a stronger whistleblower protection policy. There is plenty of room on those New York City Piers to shackle all the federal government whistleblowers who disagree with this administration-- I'm sure there are shackles with my name on it just waiting for me to come forward again as a whistleblower. But I like so many other folks wouln't dare to do in the open for fear of reprisal even with a stronger WPA. Those piers get very chilly at night. :-)

If promotions in the federal government were awarded to ethical and qualified employees in lieu of girlfriends, drinking buddies, golfing buddies, etc., there would be no need for whistleblowers. Perhaps an overhaul of management promotions and positions is what the taxpayers really need!

While the people indicated in this article appear to have altruistic motives, i.e., truth-telling to the world, I believe this is not their real purpose. I believe the motives are far more egoistic, self-centered, and dangerous to the stability of our government and its operation in this world. I clearly percieve a movement with intent to undermine our government in all areas of operation. Although whistleblowing does illuminate areas of deceit, fraud, and other illegal and immoral actions, I believe it should be and can be handled successfully within the confines of appropriate agencies. To hold people's actions accountable is commendable and necessary; to denigrate the people's government to the world behind the skirts of truth and honesty is abhorrent and inexcusable. I hope readers will minutely examine WHAT is being said and WHO is saying it.
Respectfully, A concerned citizen
