There is a question that needs further attention. Were the legitimate crew of the highjacked aircraft able to alert the air traffic control net via the secondary beacon system identification code? For example, the ICAO code for a hijacked aircraft is "7777". If the answer to this critical question was "yes", both the civil and military responsible sectors would automatically and simultaneously be alerted of a highjack in progress.
