Curious that the claims of significant bias leveled at the GovExec staff are charged both as supporting and denigrating our President. It seems that the slant perceived is solely dependent on the eyes reading an article.
It seems that you just can't protect yourself from a citizen with an axe to grind (and the ability to hide behind anonymity) any more than you can negotiate with a fanatic having no concern for his/her own life.

Alexis Simendinger of the National Journal is neither objective or impartial, rather her reporting is biased and dogmatic, and reflects most of the reporting from GovExec recently. GovExec has a one-sided view and furnishes no information (and there is plenty) to illustrate that there is another point-of-view, you have compromised your journalistic standards as has the 911 Commission. Even though the President is leaning over backwards to accommodate the needs of the American people to know what is going on, their and your bias prevented that from happening.

What a shame that this article has such a blatant pro-Bush slant. What is needed in the face of the unprecedented obfuscation, secrecy, and contempt for the Constitution coming from Bush and his cronies, is a serious analysis of exactly what is going on with the continuous effort to create an imperial presidency. Unfortunately, what we got instead were a lot of self-serving quotes from Bush supporters, with only a couple of mild criticisms from those who see it differently.

I am becoming convinced that GovExec.com is on the payroll of the DNC! I read this publication to get relevant and impartial news that will impact me as a federal employee. I have no interest in reading another op-ed piece about our President or his administration. If I wanted to read something this slanted, I would subscribe to the New York Times. In case you did not get the memo, all federal employees are not Democrats. Some of us are actually conservatives that would rather you keep your opinions and feelings to yourself. Just report the facts; that is true journalism.

Page A6 of the Washington Post for Tuesday, April 20th.
The Article is: "President Campaigns to Make Patriot Act Permanent."
There is always a defining moment in a Democracy where historians can point to the fork in the road. Do we continue being an open and free society or out of fear, do we start down the road of protected police state? The President said- "The Patriot Act defends our liberty,...The Patriot Act makes it able for those of us in positions of responsibility to defend the liberty if the American people. It's essential Law."
Wow! Mr. President please read the preamble to the Constitution- We the People, in order to form a more perfect union, ... ensure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our prosperty do ordain and establish this Constitution.
Our Fathers' fathers created this living document in the hope of a continuing Republic - not a monarchy, not a police state, not a federal government out to protect us at any cost (including the destruction of democracy and the Republic).
Liberty is never cheap and liberty is never easy. I personally don't want to live or raise my family in a country that defends its liberty by establishing via a "patriot" act the same tactics used by Communist Russia and Nazi Germany to defend their "liberties."
WE THE PEOPLE gave you a higher responsibility Mr. President. To defend our freedoms and liberty from terrorists, as well as from a federal government that seems to be out of control.

This is the case of one crook lying for another one. The current administration has convinced me they are nothing but a bunch of liars and do not intend to change their ways.
Register to vote and Vote, do not allow your country to be taken prisoner by this bunch of crooks.

If you missed the President's press conference, here is the URL for the transcript. It's really worth reading--amazing how many questions Mr. Bush simply ignored even though the questions were submitted in advance for his preparation.

King George needs to start working on his library. He can blame it on the Democrats then say it was his idea all along. This is his "executive privilege" brought to the good people of this country by the voters.
