Senator McCain is very correct to suggest that there should be more thought placed into going forward with the F/FA-22 program. I just don't want the American people to end up funding a weapon system designed to fight in a war as war was viewed 25 years ago. The money might be better spent on weapons systems such as AC-130 gunships or a follow on derivative or other aerial systems (RPVs maybe)designed to fight today's and tomorrow's wars as opposed to yesterday's. Let's at least seriously consider alternative thought before moving on.

Our needs should be based on the threat. That said, why on earth are we proceeding with two fighters at the same time? DUUUhhhhh. Even the office boy USAF should understand that. Cancel one or the other and stop whining.

Has any one checked the real price of a plane? $256K is nuts. Yes we need to keep the system up to date, but I don't believe in the cost. Let's evaluate this. Unless the funds are set aside to spend on anything, do not oblige them. You already exceeded your credit limit on your charge card.

It's shortsighted thinking like this that has our military flying aircraft that are already older than the pilots that fly them and almost as old as Senator McCain. Perhaps the Senator should drive a Model T to the Capitol instead of his limo to reduce the budget deficit.

I understand Senator McCain's viewpoint of realigning priorities. However, rather than scrapping military equipment that is needed to replace aging technologies, why not do away with these superflous committees that turn into bipartisan debate teams?
Yes, I am referencing the 9/11 commission. What a total waste of time and money this has turned into. Or let's look at funding golf camps for youths at a ridiculous cost. Last I checked, there are no statesmen or CEOs that said they made it in life because someone taught them to golf! Military equipment, benefits and support are always the target because they are in the news and visible as "big ticket items". This country wastes more money on fluff programs than one can fathom.
Realign priorities? Yes Senator McCain, I agree! But let's set the priorities across the board first!
