Return to Article: Postal Service wants out of paying military pension benefits

Why doesn't the Post Office truly stand alone and support its own workforce obligations? About this so-called Military Pension .. that in my opinion should be a military responsibility not the the US Post Office. If the Post Office to save finances has grouped up with a plan that uses the same type of set up as the Military then they should be held fully responsible for that agreement for employees covered during the contracted time. Like any company benefits can be changed, but the company needs to understand that no matter who they have cover the benefit packages they need to hold up their end and not ask to be bailed out from a current or past commitment.

I am not familiar with this, what military pension benefits are the postal service paying? Why have they been paying it and how much do they pay into the benefits? Is the money put into a fund or are veterans employed by the postal service paid directly? Why did the service start contributing to this pension and how much do they contribute into the plan? Are there other federal agencies paying military pension benefits?
