Return to Article: Officials: Technology can help identify terrorism financing

"Ross said the use of technology must include the ability to gather and synthesize all available information "to proactively identify possible instances of the raising, movement and use of illicit funds." More than ever before, he added, the government requires financial institutions to produce data and information."
Why do the people in government and this administration think they have the right, or should have the right, to violate the constitution? You cannot allow a government agency to "go fishing" through any financial record they choose in hopes of finding something they can use against someone. Didn't we learn anything from the IRS list of enemies and J. Edgar Hoover's secret files? Sounds like the KGB and other secret police (CIA?).
Congress needs to assure that this is not done in the name of security! We are giving up the freedoms that we fight for in the name of the freedoms that we fight for. This is ridiculous and should be stopped before it gets out of hand totally. The PATRIOT ACT for one should be rescinded!
