You'd think that jobs connected with protection of our nation would hold a higher rating and be exempt from competition. What the hell are they thinking? I cannot believe the stupid things our government does, or how blind they are to reality. Our security shouldn't be for sale to the highest bidder.

This is the beginning of the end for American security. Contractors will hire anyone who will work for less money. Business gets addicted to cheap labor and pretty soon you get questionable people in jobs with access to areas they should not be in. Does terroritst come to mind?

DHS is just starting up, it makes no sense to make these decisions when the startup bugs have yet to be resolved, much less identified. Identify the problems with the existing workforce, if any, then make a decision as to whether contracting out would provide a solution to those problems. Security and understanding of the governmental regulations at this time should take precedence over perceived potential savings. The transition from government employees to contractor employees does not serve our security needs. There are matters that are more important than the bottom line.
