I found it easier to use Jobs USA than the AVEU website. It is poor at best

Absolute pain in the you know where. Some of the jobs posted seem to require only as much education as an 8th grader would have, yet to navigate the website, you need to be a rocket scientist. It's a nightmare. We are required to provide our life story and answer ridiculous questions. It's laughable. God forbid you have to submit an DD214, Vet preference letter, transcripts, etc., because you never know if it was received. I'm sure the majority of positions are filled with close friends and family and in house because it's almost impossible to do this on USAJOBS.

The new USAJobs site is very frustrating when searching for opportunities in the federal service. With Avue Central available, I don't know why anyone would bother with USAJobs. The Avue interface works beautifully . It is extremely user friendly. Sadly, I think OPM's refusal to admit that the new site doesn't work as it should reflects a failing in its director's commitment to serving the public's desire to work in federal service and a lack of sensitivity to the great need for the positions in the federal service being filled so that the necessary work of the federal service go forward.

I must sadly agree with the comments put forth by "Arlington" and "Budget". While the search by date feature is useful to ensure that you don't look at the same announcements over and over, the keyword and agency searches are useless. If you want to search individual offices in each agency that has them, you must look at EACH agency. You can't type in one phrase and have it match up. Why fix something that wasn't broken?

RESUMIX - it might be a manager's dream, but it's an employee's nightmare. If management selects through RESUMIX how does an individual know that a position is being recruited for? How do you know you made the cert? How would you EVER know you if were left off of the cert if you never knew the position was being recruited for. If you talk to HRSC SE all you get are the standard pat answers - one of which "Do you know how many folks we service?" I've been dealing with RESUMIX for over three years - what a mess - old resumes being sent forward for consideration, or being considered for jobs that you didn't apply for, this is my lively hood we're talking about. We have NO other avenue to apply for positions within the government. Don't trust RESUMIX. As a federal employee of nearly 20 years I feel powerless over the system - I've been up and down the chain - to no avail.
Resumix - the other big black hole

While the new website has an attracitve appearance, it definitely has shortcomings. I have heard several people in HR complain that the jobs are listed by date posted, which requires additional time to scroll through vacancies. but the biggest shortcoming I see is in the search agent, which sends a daily list of jobs which are not relevant for me. While I am interested in senior level HR positions and have status, I have been sent information on entry level jobs as well as a wide range of professional positions, such as attorney and engineering positions, for which I do not meet academic or technical qualifications, and also have been sent referrals for law enforcement positions which have age limits that I exceed.
I have informed OPM but have had no response, so now I just delete the search agent message without looking at it. I am sure many non-federal applicants are experiencing the same frustration and if that feature is not corrected, it will only serve to deter applicants from the site.

In July, I received an email from the site informing me that all the information I had recently submitted was lost due to a technical glitch. It was frustrating to have to put everything together from scratch but, I think that once the bugs are corrected, it will be a vast improvement.

What was wrong with the previous web site? Before with one click I could chose the type of position that I was searching for, now I have to scroll down a list of every position that is within the federal government and find the positions that I'm qualified for. The new web page also doesn't offer me the choice of seeing only the positions that have posted within a certain time frame. Now, I'm forced to scroll through all the listings including jobs that have an indefinite closing date (which are not real listings as far as I'm concerned)! What a waste of my time. I have yet to look at every page that is offered for my search, in the past if I had five pages within my search criteria I was surprised.
