Return to Article: TSA handgun contract draws ire of firearms makers

It is too bad that the contract is being rethought based on protests by an Italian gun maker. Why does DOT seem so set on giving this contract to the AXIS powers? Next you know we will see a Japanese firm get the bid. Purchase of firearms should be through American companies that manufacture on American soil. I for one am sick of the CIA and other government agencies developing arms in foreign countries and then sending in our troops to control the people we arm or provide money to develop arms. Not one dollar should go from our governmernt to any foreign arms manufacturer! Why do we develop their ability to produce arms? The Congress not only should recend this contract but should cancel any federal government contract for arms to be produced by foreign manufacturers! The services, DoD, also buys arms fro foreign manufacturers and that should be stopped. Additionally, purchase of arms from American companies should require that 100% of the manufacturing be done in the USA (no territories only states) and not be allowed outside the country. Congress wake up the admionistration justifies this stuff on a cost basis but excludes the cost of American lives when we have to fight the people we support with these contracts. Also, who armed Iraq and Iran - the CIA.
