I agree with the column written. I had been saying this for as many years as I have been a reservist. Most of the reservist and guard people don't have insurance. Insurance is not affordable to most Americans even. I think guard and reservists are doing the same job the active duty people are now and we deserve to be taken care of medically and including our families. Activating the guard and reservist would be much easier if we had tricare. Check-ups that are required for our services would not cost us as much as it does going to our civilian doctors. Reservists and Guardmen pay out more money to serve our country than active duty people. Healthcare through tricare would benefit the reserve and guard as well as the federal government. Thank you.

These people have COBRA protection for 18 months. There is no reason they do not have coverage except that they chose to drop the insurance because of the cost or their ignorance. The government should stay out of this area and if necessary extend the COBRA period to two or three years for everyopne not just Reserve and Guard people. If you take away government jobs through contracting why don't you have the Reserve and Guard continue coverage under COBRA. Come on, Congress, get real!
