It is ludicrous to think that because the government's health benefits plan keeps pace with the civilian sector all is fine. Our pay does not come close to the civilian sector, so where is the comparison?

I feel the GAO audit, while it acknowledged reduced benefits, ignored these substantial changes as a cost increase. While premiums over a period of time may have averaged 6 percent, the increase in co-pays, family deductibles, and catastrophic coverage (not mentioned in the GAO study) should be factored in the increase as well. The GAO study did not say if the state plans they compared with Federal plans had similar benefit reductions.
