Return to Article: OMB outlines new federal outsourcing rules

It does not matter who is in the White House but every year the federal employees become hostages of stupid politics. They say that federal employees have to wait a few weeks after the 4.1% becomes effective but they will not tell you that insurance is going up, medicare tax is going up, etc, and those will not wait until Congress decides to approve an increase. Hence, less money for federal workers until the increase is approved. So much for confidence in federal employees. No wonder so many are leaving the Government.

I think that the current administration will do anything to get rid of the cost and responsibility for federal employee retirement plans, and give our jobs to their big business buddies. Their talk about outsourcing after a fair competitive process shows that the jobs can be done more efficiently and at a lower cost is just a smoke screen and an insult to our intelligence.
I've seen the results of outsourced projects within the government. The end products were often barely functional, if not a complete bust, and a big waste of money. The processes they were meant to facilitate and serve often had to change and adjust to fit the product, rather than the product fitting the function as was originally intended. Not exactly a model for the efficiency and cost savings of outsourcing.
Taking their ridiculous concept a step further, why have elections for Congress and the President? Why not "outsource" those positions, and bring in individuals who are proven leaders and performers in the corporate world, like the former CEO of GE, or Microsoft? If striving for supposed efficiency and cost savings are the most important things in life where WE are concerned, why should any federal employees anywhere be exempt?
Those at the top who are so anxious to get rid of us career federal employees conveniently forget that THEY are also federal employees. But since its our jobs that are on the line and not theirs, they probably don't feel the same threat or sense of urgency that we do. Most of us federal employees work long and hard, and do an excellent job. But I guess our true value won't be realized until we're gone. And that is very, very sad.
