It is unfortunate that the truly discriminated victims have to suffer at the hand of the federal EEO system.
Just to add insult to injury, the discriminated employee is paying the agency attorney salary thru their taxs to represent the manager who discriminated against them.
For those righteous federal employees who have been truly discriminated against, they feel a right to demand justice under the American democratic system. It is so unfortunate that demanding justice can sometimes send the employee over the edge.
We have all these federal EEO laws, offices, policies and procedures and yet, in 2009, discrimination in the federal government is alive and well.

I find this article incredious. I was the target of retalliation within the AF. It appears that the AF, DOD and DOJ consider screaming, throwing things, threatening employees with physical harm, and actually inflicting physical harm acceptable management. Yes, I filed a complaint and have retired while it works its way through the system due to the hostile work environment.
Higher level management needs to take care of the abusers. Then some of the complaints will stop.

While the article points out some sad truths about valid employee complaints and grievances it also makes a case for the lack of accountability at top management levels. It is deplorable form of justice that allows well defined harrasment, threats, and coercion of government employees to go unresolved and unpunished. It is ridiculous to ask top management to address the discrimination issue, one that impacts unit morale and productivity, when they support its use. Fear and reprisal have long been the subtle tools of some managers and they only do it because they know they can!
