I went to BCT at Ft. Jackson. There is a huge problem in basic training as far as sex goes. My brother went to Ft. Benning which is an all male basic training and what he described to me was nothing like what I went through. I knew of at least 20 women that had sexual relations during basic training. Out of 50 soldiers in my class at AIT, 27 were female. 16 were married. Not a single woman who was married in my class stayed faithful. This isn't to say that it was all women. Men were just as bad.
By integrating men and women in basic training, you give soldiers other things to focus on other than the task at hand. BCT should be about learning vital training, army ways of life and values, and getting up to par physically so when you are called to do your job as a soldier you can perform proficiently. For me, having women around holds men back, physically. I feel sort of cheated as far as basic goes. I got in better shape after basic training because while getting disciplined in basic, women got tired faster and that made it easier on the men. I can't really comment on the female side because I'm not one. But, if they didn't have to worry about guys checking them out and trying to sleep with them, I'm pretty sure it would be easier to focus.

As a female looking at entering the army I don't like mixed genders because I don't want to have to worry about a guy checkinig me out every time I move. When you're in just one group of same sex people you are focused way more on what you should be focused on. The other gender causes too much of a distraction. Each of us should be pushed harder and I also believe that men are not pushed as hard when they're in groups with women. They can do more.

My son is in boot camp - Ft. Benning, I have many members of our Family in and retired from the Military. I want my Son pushed to the extreme of his potential, I want him trained as hard and as mean as combat can be. It is a disservice in highest degree to not run these kids as hard as possible. Tha way when AND IF they graduate Boot Camp they will have EARNED a spot on the Team! Look what lack of discipline has done to our school system.
