Elastic Perimeter Defense: The Next Generation of Cloud Security

More than three years into the White House's "Cloud First" policy, federal agencies face a strategic decision over which type of cloud configuration to use. Traditionally, agencies have favored private, closed cloud configurations because they are thought to provide the most security and allow for the most control. But this model limits the cloud’s potential to help generate efficiencies and enhanced capabilities for the federal government. A new understanding of security based on software defined perimeters could fundamentally alter the cloud security narrative and present an opportunity for federal agencies to make the most of cloud computing.
