Some companies that received contracts for Iraq reconstruction also are working in the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina. Below is a list of companies in that category along with examples of their current contracts.

Halliburton Co.'s Kellogg Brown and Root subsidiary

Working on water removal, emergency construction services and power distribution.

  • $7.07 million contract awarded competitively by Army Corps to provide services to a Homeland Security support facility in New Orleans
  • $15 million contract awarded competitively by Army Corps for water removal services

Bechtel Corp.

Providing temporary housing units. The company is working under a letter of agreement with FEMA. Contract details, such as the value of the contract, will be finalized at a later date.

The Shaw Group Inc.

Providing construction, utilities and building management services

  • $14. 9 million contract awarded competitively by Army Corps for roofing services
  • $19 million contract awarded under restricted competition by Army Corps for water removal

Weston Solutions Inc.

Providing environmental services

  • $378.3 million contract awarded competitively by Army Corps for soil samples

Fluor Corp.

Constructing temporary housing and providing utilities

Blackwater USA

Building communications infrastructure and providing security and search-and-rescue services
