Repair and Rebuild
Under its 18-month capital reconstruction contract for $680 million with the U.S. Agency for International Development, Bechtel is making emergency repairs to infrastructure such as Iraq's electrical and sewer system. Tasks include:
- Repairing selected bridges and roads
- Restoring electric power generators and grids
- Repairing water and sewage systems
- Repairing systems at up to six airports
- Rebuilding up to 100 hospitals, 6,000 schools and various Iraqi ministry buildings
