Repair and Rebuild

Under its 18-month capital reconstruction contract for $680 million with the U.S. Agency for International Development, Bechtel is making emergency repairs to infrastructure such as Iraq's electrical and sewer system. Tasks include:

  • Repairing selected bridges and roads
  • Restoring electric power generators and grids
  • Repairing water and sewage systems
  • Repairing systems at up to six airports
  • Rebuilding up to 100 hospitals, 6,000 schools and various Iraqi ministry buildings
