NPR's New Strategy

The National Partnership for Reinventing Government plans by the turn of the century to reinvent government to work better, cost less and get results Americans care about. Here's how NPR officials describe their goals:

  • Align around a clear vision, value and goals.
  • Carry on a conversation with the American people about what they value.
  • Use results Americans care about as performance measures.
  • Partner with the 'high-impact agencies.'
  • Put 80 percent of NPR's energy into helping them.
  • Put 20 percent into general sharing and helping others.
  • Encourage leadership, leadership, leadership.
  • Pursue fundamental reinvention through people, process and information technology.
