Three soldiers killed by Afghan forces

Three soldiers serving in Afghanistan, one American and two British, were shot and killed on Monday in separate incidents, according to the AP.

The two British troops were killed by an Afghan soldier in front of a civilian-military base in southern Afghanistan, according to NATO officials. The American soldier was killed at a checkpoint in eastern Afghanistan by what local officials said was a member of a local fighting force the U.S. was training to combat Taliban influence.

A Taliban spokesman told the AP that the shooter in the incident involving British troops informed the Taliban of his intent before he attacked.

Monday's three deaths brought the coalition total this year to 93, according to CNN, with 16 of those being "green on blue" attacks, or those perpetrated by Afghan troops on allied forces.
