GSA updates section 508 Web site

The General Services Administration last week announced the redesign of a Web site with information on the government's efforts to make the Internet more accessible to the disabled.

The redesigned Section 508 site, which is named after the statute requiring better Web accessibility for the disabled, includes a new "Buy Accessible" page designed to help federal workers easily find and buy products that foster accessibility.

The redesigned site also features information on what Section 508 means for federal employees, vendors, people with disabilities and others, and it offers online training for webmasters and soon will include such training for other officials.

New accessibility guidelines under Section 508 took effect June 25.
