The Public Trust, Aliens and Feds

In a recent Associated Press poll, only 23 percent of Americans said they trust the federal government all or most of the time. Fifty-seven percent said they could sometimes trust the government, while 19 percent said it could never be trusted.

That might explain the findings of a different poll, conducted by Time/CNN, which found that 80 percent of Americans believe the government is hiding the truth about the existence of intelligent life on other planets.

The Time/CNN poll found that 54 percent of Americans think such life exists. Another 65 percent believe a UFO crashed in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947, and 7 percent say they or someone they know has been abducted by aliens.
