Bush declines to say if Treasury secretary will keep his job
At the White House Tuesday, President Bush declined to indicate directly whether Treasury Secretary John Snow will remain in the administration.
Bush, who had just finished a discussion on health care that included Snow and a group of business executives, was asked -- with Snow still present -- whether Snow is "expected to stay on."
Bush replied: "Secretary Snow is here at the table. He's been a part of this discussion. I'm glad you brought him up. He has been a valuable member of my administration, and I trust his judgment and appreciate his service."
The president also indicated that more staffing changes are in the works under the stewardship of incoming White House Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten.
"I told Josh that he is -- will organize the White House in such a way that he is comfortable with and that meets my needs," Bush said. "And I look forward to Josh's recommendations as to how to get this White House to -- for the last two-and-a-half years of my administration -- to continue to function in an effective way. And it functioned very effectively under Andy Card, by the way."
