The original published version of the story "Few agencies outside Washington buy antiterror gear for employees" (April 7) made reference to a March 21 letter from Rep. Edward Markey, D-Mass., to Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge questioning the effectiveness of protective hoods produced by Quick Protective Systems of Stuart, Fla. Markey later retracted his criticism, and Government Executive has no other information that would contradict the company's statements that the hoods are fully effective. The online version of the story has been updated to remove references to Markey's original claims.
