FirstGov Web portal to re-launch next week
Vice President Dick Cheney will announce the relaunch of the federal government's FirstGov Web portal next Wednesday at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington.
FirstGov now averages 1 million visitors a month, but the General Services Administration expects that number to increase to 5.4 million visitors in the next five years.
FirstGov is a joint project of the federal government and the private FedSearch Foundation, created by the software firm Inktomi.
Also at the event, the Bush administration's E-Gov Task Force will release its report on e-government initiatives designed to improve government productivity and services. The task force oversees the e-government initiatives included in the president's management agenda, which aims to make government processes more efficient.
