About the Chiefs Directory Online
The Chiefs Directory includes approximately 500 key decision makers in federal finance, information technology, procurement and personnel.
The online version of the Chiefs Directory provides access to a database of continuously updated records that can be searched by a variety of criteria (including name, title, organization and location).
Why track the chiefs? Because we believe, as do many in government, that there is much to be gained from collaboration across the C titles. Each has its own council, but no cross-cutting forum yet exists to aid in cross-fertilization, the sharing of lessons learned and the simple, yet profound process of improving communication. This is our modest contribution.
How to Use The Chiefs Directory Online
There are three basic ways to collect records from The Chiefs Directory online:
- Browse
- Search
- Purchase and download mailing lists
All three options are accessible from the links on the main Chiefs Directory page and every page in the Browse and Search sections of the Chiefs Directory database.
Browse
Browsing allows you to view Chiefs Directory entries in context. Users can quickly scan categories in order to see how listings relate to each other, such as seeing all entries within a particular department.
Listings are organized under four sections:
- Chief Financial Officers
- Chief Information Officers
- Chief Acquisition Officers
- Chief Human Capital Officers
To browse Chiefs Directory records, click on one of the sections listed on the left-hand side of the database landing page. Clicking a section will prompt sub-sections to appear. Clicking on a sub-section will pull up listings within that sub-section. From there, you can click on an individual's name to get full contact information.
All entries also can be downloaded into your Microsoft Outlook e-mail contacts list via vCard. Click "Download vCard" under the e-mail information for an entry and follow the instructions on your screen to download that contact's information.
Search
To search Chiefs Directory records, enter the search criteria in the fields on the right side of the landing page and click "Search" at the bottom of the page. Search results will be displayed in a hierarchical fashion under section headings.
Your search terms will be highlighted. In Search mode, you can access listings for specific individuals directly, without going through their department or agency. Underlined entries are hyperlinks; clicking them will open the entry in a new window.
Purchase and Download Mailing Lists
To purchase a downloadable mailing list of people included in the Chiefs Directory, simply click on the link at the top of each page and you'll be directed through the process. There are two purchase options:
Basic Mailing List (complete mailing address and phone number). Price: $99
Enhanced Mailing List (basic mailing list, plus fax number, e-mail address and Web site). Price: $199
You will have the option of downloading the list as an ASCII text file or a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
The lists are "seeded" and are licensed for a single mailing use. Since the database is updated on a regular basis, the information in it is always changing. So purchasing a new list in the future will always provide the most current and accurate data.
