Admiral Gary Roughead, Chief of Naval Operations, made an around-the-world trip in August to visit sailors and world leaders. He will talk about his findings with Government Executive Editor in Chief Timothy B. Clark and National Journal National Security Correspondent James Kitfield at the National Press Club on Sept. 24.

 

The discussion with the CNO will cover new naval tensions in the Black Sea in the wake of the Russian incursion in Georgia, the important role Navy personnel are playing in the Iraq, Afghanistan and other hot spots, the challenges of fitting the Navy’s sea-basing and other priority programs into tightening budget s and the qualities of leadership needed to lead large institutions in difficult times.
